Chris Hanney joined the Health Links team as Director of Commercial Relations in 2003 and, like Pauline Appleby, bought with him an injection of commercial sector expertise. Chris is now Managing Director of Health Links now but is still responsible for co-ordinating all Health Links sponsorship and exhibition sales. Chris also advises on marketing and new developments. Chris raised in excess of £750K in exhibition and sponsorship income in 2006 across the Health Links portfolio. He has extensive experience in all aspects of conference and events management: business planning, content creation and development, marketing and fundraising.

During his time at Analysys, one of Europe’s leading telecommunications and electronic media consultancies, (1999–2001), Chris developed four highly regarded technology conferences: Beyond Networks, e-Business Europe, Mobility Futures and the Cambridge Technology Exchange. In the 1990s Chris worked for GSK in their marketing department and this gave him valuable insight into the workings of the Industry. Chris has wide experience as a writer; having produced reports, brochures, show guides and web page content. He has an MSc in Maths.

Pauline Appleby is author of 'Organising a Successful Conference' (How To Books Ltd, 1999/2002) which is published in the UK, Malaysia and India, Pauline has been a senior events manager since 1989 and previously worked for a variety of organisations in contrasting industries including CMP United Business Media (formerly Miller Freeman) on the IFSEC and SECUREX conferences. Other clients include the Department of Trade & Industry (as part of the Virtual Reality Awareness Programme), the Sainsbury Centre for Mental Health, the Architecture and Surveying Institute, The Royal College of General Practitioners, the British Security Industry Association, Ceva Animal Health and the National Pharmaceutical Association.

Pauline joined Health Links in 2000. She specialises in annual dinners and awards ceremonies and has also directed many Health Links day conferences. Pauline has vast experience in all elements of events management including: marketing communications in all forms, particularly public relations; exhibition design and management; staff training; market research; sourcing and briefing speakers; event programme design; sponsorship agreements; venue selection, brochure distribution; media campaigns; advertising; delegate registration & speaker liaison; general logistics & on-site event management; post-event evaluation; gala dinners and other social events; partner programmes and road-shows.

Angela Lyons

Angela Lyons has an extensive knowledge of the event industry and has a proven track record in organising efficient and effective events to the highest quality and her particular expertise lies in logistical management.

Since joining Health Links in 2001 she has been responsible for the management of numerous events, and has worked closely with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of GB, NHS Alliance and NICE to ensure the success of each of their annual conferences. Previously Angela worked for the NHS Confederation where she was the Events Manager, responsible for all of the management of The NHS Confederation annual conference and all of its other events. The Confederation had an enviable reputation for the quality of its conference management and Health Links now boasts every element of the team that established that reputation.
